Meet the Orchestras

Every student who applies to the Premier Orchestral Institute submits an audition recording as part of the application process. This audition is used to place students in the orchestra that best matches their current level and experience, creating an environment where every musician can thrive and be challenged. Students selected for the POI Virtuosi and Master Camerata will participate in an additional seating audition on the morning of the first day of the institute. This audition is used to determine seating assignments within the ensemble.

A Note on Orchestra Placement: Orchestra placement at the Premier Orchestral Institute is based on each student's audition and musical ability—not age. The average age listed for each orchestra is provided only as a general guideline to help families understand the typical makeup of each ensemble. Students may be placed in an orchestra above or below the listed age range based on their skill level and experience.
