DAVID LAZA

YOUNG HAYDNS ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR

David Laza is a talented cellist, composer, and arranger from Cuba, with over 10 years of experience in musical performance and teaching. A graduate with honors from the Instituto Superior de Artes de la Habana, Mr. Laza has refined his skills not only as a cellist but also as a String Quartet director, and Composer and Arranger. Throughout his career, he has been an active participant in renowned international music festivals, including the Austin Music Chamber Music Festival and the Vermont Mozart Festival.

In 2017, Mr. Laza earned the top prize at the Musicalia Competition, further cementing his reputation as an exceptional musician. He has also had the privilege of studying under world-class musicians, such as Mayumi Seiler, through various masterclasses.

Beyond his mastery of the cello, Mr. Laza is also an accomplished conductor, having studied orchestral conducting with Maestro Eduardo Diaz. His versatility extends to other instruments as well such as piano, percussion, guitar, and bass, and has contributed to numerous music recordings.

A visionary leader, Mr. Laza is the founder of the Mozart Havanna Festival, a celebration of classical music and culture in his native Cuba.
